The JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development; for children from 8-20 years old) qualification rounds and achievement levels are designated to motivate and challenge youth to develop their archery skills. Each archer advances at his or her own pace through the different levels.
To progress through the achievement program, the JOAD archer must pass each level, starting with Green Star and forward. The archers must shoot the required score under tournament like conditions (see Scoring section on the USA Archery website). They may also earn a 6-Star pin when they shoot 6 consecutive 10 (or X) in a row.
There is a $68.00 fee for pins and lanyards for both indoor and outdoor, $37.00 if choosing just indoor or outdoor, or $3.25 per pin and per lanyard plus tax and shipping. JOAD achievement awards may be earned at sanctioned tournaments, non-sanctioned, and leagues, when the club allows.
If you have gotten a State Record during a USA sanctioned tournament, you can submit your score to the USA Archery website https://www.therustyarcher.com/records/usaa/fl/new_record. Please make sure that you have your paper score card signed by a judge BEFORE turning it in. If you have gotten a State Record during a NFAA/FAA* tournament, FAA will automatically add you to the list of the State Record. No action is needed.
